Figure / Doll

You can make 3D print objects that you vacuum form to fill with incubated mycelium.
Quick Instructions:
  1. Design the individual parts of your toy in CAD software. We use Tinkercad. Alternatively, you can sculpt the parts out of clay.
  2. Make 2 square frames of the same size from large popsicle sticks.
  3. Create a DIY vacuum former using a Shop VAC.
    1. Check out Corinne Takara's DIY vacuum former
    2. And look at this walk through from Instructables
  4. Cut a flat piece of plastic out of a milk carton, the shape of your frames.
  5. Use binder clips to sandwich your plastic between the popsicle stick frames, secure the assembly with soldiering helping hand clips. Place your 3D printed or clay object on the vacuum former.
  6. Put on work gloves. You also need a buddy for this part! Evenly heat the plastic using a heat gun, steadily moving the heat gun back and forth over the plastic until the plastic looks transparent. Turn off heat gun.
  7. Have your buddy turn the vacuum former on. Using both hands, quickly lower the heated plastic over the vacuum former.
  8. Turn off vacuum former when plastic is formed around object.
  9. Allow plastic to cool, then pop the objects out and you have a mold to press mycelium into!
